ABSTRACT

Objective@#Adolescents are at a special stage of physical and mental development, which is a susceptible period for mental disorders. Since the outbreak of coronavirus pneumonia in December 2019, long term stress may have negative effects on the mental health of the adolescents. In the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the study was designed to investigate the mental and psychological health of adolescents in China and its possible related factors. @*Methods@#A cross-sectional study design was adopted using a structured questionnaire which were distributed through the Internet to measure depression, anxiety, life events and stress related factors. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analyses were conducted to process the data. @*Results@#The final sample comprised 795 adolescents. The total detection rate of depression was 76.48% and the total detection rate of anxiety was 33.08%. ANOVA showed that there were significant differences in depression scores in terms of gender, anxiety scores, history of mental disorders, COVID-19 knowledge reserve, family and social contradictions (p<0.05). And there were significant differences in anxiety scores in terms of gender, depression scores, mental health knowledge reserves, family and social contradictions (p<0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that anxiety score, health status and COVID-19 knowledge reserve were positively associated with depression score (p<0.01), and history of psychosocial disorders was negatively associated with depression score (p<0.05); depression score, family and social contradictions were significantly positively correlated with anxiety score (p<0.01), and history of mental disorders was significantly negatively correlated with SDS score (p<0.01). @*Conclusion@#During the outbreak of COVID-19, adolescent students with better understanding of the pandemic, more complete knowledge of mental health, and better family and social relationship had less impact on their mental health. Therefore, to ensure a sound social support system, elaborate health instruction, and family communication and mutual understanding are conducive to alleviating the psychological stress caused by the epidemic, and it is positive for adolescent students to maintain a good mental health.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the correlation of serum brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF),visceral adipose and cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods From July 2016 to August 2017,72 patients with type 2 diabetes in our department of inpatient were selected as subjects.According to whether there was cognitive dysfunction, they were divided into 2 groups, type 2 diabetes mellitus combined with cognitive impairment group (A group) and simple type 2 diabetes group (B group).Another 40 healthy persons in the same period were selected as the control group. The indexes of glycolipid metabolism, visceral adipose and BDNF were measured in two groups. The logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of cognitive dysfunction, and the relationship between visceral adipose,BDNF and cognitive function was analyzed by Pearson correlation. Results (1) The total cholesterol (TC),triglyceride (TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),fasting insulin (FINS),fasting blood glucose (FPG),glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c),fasting insulin (FINS),insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR),and visceral fat hormone level of the three groups were from high to low in A group > B group > C group (P < 0.05);while the high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),the expression level of BDNF and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score of the three groups were from high to low in C group > B group > A group (P < 0.05);(2) The logistic regression analysis showed that visfatin,HOMA-IR,BDNF for the risk of cognitive impairment factors in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes;(3) Correlation analysis showed that the score and visceral fat MoCA and HOMA-IR were negatively correlated with the MoCA score was positively related to BDNF;HOMA-IR and visfatin was positively correlated, negatively correlated with BDNF.Conclusions The cognitive function of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes is related to serum visfatin and BDNF.Increased visfatin and BDNF may lead to cognitive dysfunction.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the prevalence and severity degree of post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), anxiety and depression, and to explore the different mental profile in different groups involved with an earthquake. Methods 26 days after 8.0 grade earthquake in Wenchuan, psychological rescue team of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine went to some communities in Deyang and Mianzhu area of Sichuan province. In this period, a total of 119 survivors, including students(42), teacher(40) and masses(37), were investigated through impact of event scale (IES), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS). Results①The detection rate of score over 19 in IES in 3 groups (students, teacher and masses) were 69%, 80% and 91.9%, respectively. There was significant difference among these 3 groups (F=5.611, P=0.005<0.01) in respect of severity degree of PTSD. ②The values of severity degree of anxiety in 3 groups were significant higher than normal value (P<0.001, all). There was also significant difference among these 3 groups (F=3.376, P=0.038<0.05) in respect of severity degree of anxiety, with the masses group being significant higher than student and teacher group (P=0.029, P=0.022, respectively). ③The values of severity degree of depression in these 3 groups were significant higher than normal value (P<0.05, all). But there was no significant difference (F= 0.670, P=0.514) among these 3 groups. ConclusionThe results suggested the importance to assess PTSD, anxiety and depression in post-disaster area, especially PTSD and anxiety evaluations in the masses group.

ABSTRACT

@# Objective To study the personality characteristics of the stagnation of liver-qi syndrome cases with Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).Methods 20 liver-qi stagnation syndrome cases and 20 normal persons whose paired by sex and age were tested by MMPI. The scores of 13 clinical scales and the section plane of MMPI were acquired and analyzed. Results There was a significant difference in 9 clinical scales (F, Pa, D, Pt, Si, Sc, Hs, Hy, Pd) between the liver-qi stagnation syndrome cases and normal persons ( P<0.05~0.001). The scores of Hs, D, Hy, Pd in the liver-qi stagnation syndrome group were higher than the Chinese normal model. The MMPI section plane of liver-qi stagnation group presented the type of 3/1. Conclusion The patients with liver-qi stagnation have some special personality characteristics such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, indifferent and attention.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the relations among phlegm turbidity, blood stasis syndromes, Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in simple hypertension patients and those complicated with abnormal blood fat and/or diabetes. Methods Totally 319 cases of hypertension collected were divided into the group with simple hypertension (simple group, 98 cases) and the group with hypertension complicated with abnormal blood fat and/or diabetes (complicated group, 221 cases). The patients were classified according to the 4 different syndromes, i.e., phlegm turbidity, blood stasis, phlegm turbidity plus blood stasis, and not phlegm turbidity not blood stasis. ELISA was used to measure serum IL-6 content, and latex enhancement immune turbidimetry was applied to determine hs-CRP content. Results The contents of IL-6 and hs-CRP of the two groups were not significantly different. The content of hs-CRP of both groups in the 4 syndromes was not significantly different. In the simple group, the content of IL-6 in the 4 syndromes was not significantly different either. In the complicated group, the content of IL-6 in the syndrome of phlegm turbidity plus blood stasis was significantly higher than in other syndromes (P

ABSTRACT

70%. The cluster analysis and factorial analysis showed that the fierceness, cruelty, and vital qi damaging were often clustered with each other and constituted the factors of main characteristics of Du-pathogen. In the Logistic regression analysis, it was discovered that fierceness, cruelty, and multi-damaging were closely related with the recognition of "the excessive pathogen damaging the health" (P
